Recovery from Emotional Pain

Everyone has emotional pain at some time in their life. The mistake we frequently make is in assuming that "I am alone in feeling pain", which then seems to increase the pain. Also, many of us assume a set of beliefs in childhood that don't work well in adulthood. Many of us have tried to avoid feeling pain with any number of addictions and avoidance mechanisms only to find out that unless you deal directly with the pain, it doesn't go away. If you are feeling bad, please talk to me or another therapist. You do not have to live your life in pain. As John Bradshaw, author of several books about co-dependency and dysfunctional families, said many years ago, " The only way out is through."
