Recovery from Emotional Pain

Posted on 24 September, 2014 at 16:05 Comments comments (14615)

Everyone has emotional pain at some time in their life. The mistake we frequently make is in assuming that "I am alone in feeling pain", which then seems to increase the pain. Also, many of us assume a set of beliefs in childhood that don't work well in adulthood. Many of us have tried to avoid feeling pain with any number of addictions and avoidance mechanisms only to find out that unless you deal directly with the pain, it doesn't go away. If you are feeling bad, please talk to me or another therapist. You do not have to live your life in pain. As John Bradshaw, author of several books about co-dependency and dysfunctional families, said many years ago, " The only way out is through." Below is a link to an article about emotional pain and how to deal with it. Remember you don't have to do it alone. There is help available.

Change: Desire and Fear

Posted on 3 September, 2014 at 14:50 Comments comments (750)

Have you ever noticed that when you want to change something in your life, resistance shows up? You have made a decision to make the positive change whether it is regarding your relationship, your eating habits, or any other aspect of your life and suddenly you feel immobilized, incapable of creating the change you sincerely want.

Many of us then come to a conclusion that there is something wrong with us, that we are weak-willed or defective in some way. This thought restricts our forward movement even further. What I would like for you to know is that THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU. Ok, I didn't mean to scream at you, but I do want to get your attention. There is nothing wrong with you. It is a natural phenomenon that is happening. There is a system built into our brain that resists change, that wants to maintain the status quo.

I am going to refer you to an article to read more on this topic. You can find the article at:

I will be writing more on this topic. Please check back.

Let yourself experience a wonderful day!
